The Miami Hurricanes are dealing with some serious off-field questions just weeks before the 2026 season begins.
Miami head coach Mario Cristobal confirmed that wide receiver Cam Vaughn has been dismissed from the football program. Cristobal announced the decision during a WQAM appearance but did not disclose the reason for Vaughn’s dismissal. Vaughn had transferred to Miami after a productive 2025 season at West Virginia, where he caught 35 passes for 541 yards and four touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Miami running back Jordan Lyle was arrested in Broward County on charges of aggravated fleeing or eluding law enforcement and reckless driving. Lyle was released after posting a combined $55,000 bond. Miami acknowledged the incident and said it was allowing the legal process to play out.
That puts the spotlight directly on Mario Cristobal, Miami’s culture, accountability, and championship expectations.
